I'm so excited - I just found one of my dearest friends on facebook and now on blogger! It will be wonderful to be able to keep in touch in more ways than email!

Wiki's are interesting. Some I looked at were no longer being updated, so it tells me they weren't ver useful. I attended a workshop on Wiki's at convention a couple years ago and it didn't seem like anyone ever did anything with it. It was on book reviews.

The Wiki I really liked that I looked at was the 2008 ALA convention - everything was right there that you would need in one spot!

Library use - maybe event pages where staff could add instead of the webmaster being the only one to add to our web pages??

The most frustrating part for me is that I wish there was one big umbrella for all these applications so we didn't need to go to different places and log in.

Libary 2.0 - where will all this technolgy take us??? I feel very strongly about keeping a good collection of materials in print form for all kinds of people. Everyone doesn't want to look at things on line. I know the younger generation will probably be more excited about all these new applications than older people. Everyone doesn't have the same skills to be able to use these.

Libraries have to change to keep up but at what cost? Are there going to be no more books for people to curl up by the fire and read? Do you have to sit at a computer or with your laptop?

I have actually helped put together a power point before and it wasn't too hard. I work with pictures alot and use slideshows with different programs. There are really alot of neat slideshows on this slideshare site. I don't do presenatations but it is fun to look at what others have done.

I checked out Delicious and this is something that I think I will use. I have so many bookmarks on my computer at home and so many folders it sometimes is hard to find something that I'm looking for. Adding tags will make it so much better!

We have lots of links on our library page and I checked out how Holdrege Public Library did theirs and I think it's really cool! I think it would be interesting to try this. I went through some other links and sometimes I came to a link that didn't work anymore. That is the bad thing about bookmarks - websites change so often and then the bookmark is useless!

I opened an account and added a few bookmarks, but right now don't feel comfortable making them public. I will try it out for awhile and can always change some later.

Well, I twittered! I had never heard of twitter before but Sunday morning, just the day after I started my twitter, I had Fox & Friends on and they were asking people to twitter them!

I don't think that I would use this in my personal life. I use facebook to keep up with family members and what is going on in their lives, but don't really have time to follow people I don't know.

The NLC Reference was interesting but after awhile, it seems like it would be alot to
sift through. One library I found was using twitter to add new titles that their library had added onto their homepage.

This would be great if I purchased alot of books - it would be a great way to keep track of what I had on my shelves (virtually)! I added a couple favorite authors and added them to my gallery and author cloud. This could definitely be a source for reviews when I want to try a new author also. I could see that this would be great for people to keep track of what they read but don't know if it would be worth the time involved for some.

Technology - it is wonderful when it works and irritating when it doesn't! I enjoy being able to keep up with extended family using facebook & email and searching internet for things I need (especially travel info) but I don't like spending hours and hours on the computer - have lots of other interests in my life!

Did a magazine cover of Garon with the picture taken a couple years ago here at the library for Valentine's Day. It turned out really cute! Will do a poster yet to try one of the other applications.

I added a picture to my blog using flikr - this is quite a bit like using facebook adding photos, video, etc.

I tried the different blogline finders and found a few I was interested in. I was really happy to find one that pertains to Hastings!
The Google Blog search was easy to use and Topix.net has links for lots of current information.

This was fairly easy to set up and add the feeds suggested. I have tried to go to some of my favorite sites but they don't have bloglines, so it doesn't help me with some of the sites I visit on a regular basis. It is great though to have the newspapers I like to read all in one spot so I don't have to go to different links.

I'm not sure how this would help in the work situation. I guess I'll wait to see if others at work have any suggestions on how it would work.

I got the instant messaging set up and IM's a co-worker & it worked! Waiting to IM a NLC staff member. I use facebook and chat with family members all over the US but this works a little different.
